We are delighted to invite you to our first Lunch&Learn Session in the Geneva area in 2013 entitled:

The case for Workplace Wellness Initiatives in the war for talents

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) will cause a total of US$ 47 trillion in costs over the next 20 years. In this context, preserving the health and productivity of the workforce will be critical. Being absent from the job (absenteeism) or underperforming while working (presenteeism) are estimated to cause productivity losses worth US$ 389 billion due to cardiovascular disease and US$ 1.6 trillion due to mental ill-health. Workplace wellness initiatives can be part of the solution to the challenges the workforce is facing: they help keep workers healthier longer, breaking the link between NCDs and aging while playing an important role in attracting and retaining talent.

Dr Gary Phillips, Head of Healthcare Industries at the World Economic Forum, will review the critical findings and achievements from the Forum’s Workplace Wellness Alliance, which has been running since 2008 within multinational companies across sectors and locations.

Dr Phillips holds a BA in Biochemistry, MBA, and MD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. His career so far has been very diverse; from working as a General Medicine Physician in the US Navy to working in the private sector including as Managing Consultant, Pharma Strategy, Towers Perrin; Senior Director, Strategy, Wyeth; Executive Director, Strategy, Novartis Pharma; President, US Pharmaceuticals & Surgical, Bausch & Lomb; VP, Portfolio Strategy, Business Intelligence and Innovation, Merck Serono; and President, Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals Inc.
