Developing Ethical Corporate Culture – Contributions of HR

with Prof. Dr. Mathias Schüz, Professor for Responsible Leadership Center for Human Capital Management at ZHAW

Corporate scandals such as manipulated emission values of Diesel cars, exploding nuclear power plants and smart phones again disclosed irresponsible activities in management. HR departments can play a key role in fostering a culture of ethical responsibility within the whole organization. For this, it should understand the deeper meaning of ethics and how to apply the different approaches in daily business.

Prof. Dr. phil. Mathias Schüz studied Physics, Philosophy and Education. He started his professional career as trainee and key account manager at IBM. As co-founder and general manager of the Gerling Academy for Risk Research, Zurich, he co-formulated and implemented, amongst others, a new corporate culture for the Gerling Insurance Group. Since 2006, he is Professor for Responsible Leadership at the School of Management and Law at ZHAW in Winterthur, Switzerland. Just recently, he published a teaching book about applied business ethics.
